RAR Expander

The RAR archive format is quite popular and with the right applications, you can work with it on various operating systems. If you wish to extract the contents of a RAR archive on your Mac, you can use RAR Expander to make this operation as fast and easy as possible. This lightweight utility is capable of extracting files from RAR archives, even if they come in multiple volumes. It is capable of processing multiple archives at the same time and it provides full support for password-protected archives.

Extracting the application is sufficient to start processing RAR archives. All you have to do is right click a RAR archive, open it with RAR Expander and select an output folder. The same can be done with a selection of archives. What's more, the application incorporates the official unRAR library, which enables it to extract from archives that were created by WinRAR. If you intend to extract files from a password-protected archive, the application will display a password input window automatically.

You can still run RAR Expander's .app file, if you wish to change its behavior. The Preferences menu can be accessed through the menu bar, after running the aforementioned file. By default, the application will ask you to select a destination folder for each archive, but you can set it to store the extracted files in the same folder as the archives or in a specific folder, without asking for any confirmation. Additionally, you can set it to place the files in their own folders at all times, or if there are more than a certain number of items within an archive.
